DIVING | In the World Renowned Vatu-I-Ra Channel

The Vatu-i-Ra channel or Bligh Water offers some of the best diving in the world. Nananu-I-Ra is in close proximity to a number of world renowned dive sites. Some of the most amazing soft coral gardens are accessable within an hour boat ride from the island. See sharks, rays, turtles, and thousands of species of fish and coral.

You're bound to see Blue Ribbon Eels, Clown Triggers, Lion Fish, Leaf Scorpions, Reef Sharks and millions of colorful Anthias.

MacDonalds Beach Cottages plays host to divers on a regular basis, and so we understand the needs of divers. Our private Jetty serves as a convenient loading and unloading point for the dive boats. Dive boats regularly pick up around 7am for morning dive trips.

SNORKELING | It's "Out Of This World!"

The calm clear waters around Nananu-I-Ra make for ideal snorkeling conditions and offer some of the best marine life diversity within just 100 yards of the beach. Some of the best snorkeling on the island can be done off our jetty. Here we have created a fish sanctuary and do not permit fishing, so many of the brightly colored fish are very friendly and will swim with you.

Experienced travellers and divers often comment that it is the best they’ve seen so far.

FISHING | Sport Fishing at it's Best

We have excellent Game & Still Fishing available for the keen angler or for those that want to do something different. You are likely to catch Spanish Mackerel, Snapper, Barracuda, Rainbow Runner and Salmon Cod and other local varieties of great eating fish.

Snorkelling, game fishing and still fishing can be combined into the one trip.

KAYAKING | Explore Nananu-I-Ra by Sea

Paddle and drift around the shore, discover hidden beaches, snorkel and swim off your kayak. We have single and double kayaks for you to use. Just check out paddles at the snack bar.

KITEBOARDING and WINDSURFING

Nananu-I-Ra is unofficially known as Fiji's most reliable and well-known windsurfing mecca and has consistant wind for a good portion of the year. It's this natural meteorological feature combined with a sandy shoreline that makes the Island a natural haven for windsurfers and kitesurfers alike.

Peak season is June to August, boasting consistant 15-30 knot south-easterly cross-shore trade winds. Expect 10-20 knot winds during the off season, which provide ideal conditions for beginners and great windsurfing conditions in the channel between the Fiji mainland (Viti Levu) and Nananu I Ra Island, and in many other spots around the island.
